San Mateo City – Main Library

The Main Library has an underground parking garage for library customers. Parking is free. There is a 2 hour time limit enforced Monday – Thursday from 8:00am – 6:00pm, and Friday-Saturday from 8:00am – 5:00pm.

There are exhibit spaces on each of the three floors of the San Mateo Main Library in addition to the permanent 101st Airborne exhibit on the northeast wall of the 3rd Floor. A Library Art Selection Committee meets annually to choose what artwork will be featured.

With a library card number, you receive up to 3 hours per day to access to the Internet and Microsoft Office applications. It is free to use the computers but there are no reservations. Printing is available in color or black and white. The first 45 cents worth of printing is free with your library card number. Subsequent printouts are 15 cents per page for black and white and 30 cents per page for color.

There are three meeting rooms that can be rented, the Oak room is the largest with a maximum capacity if set up Theater Style of 142. The Cedar room is slightly smaller than the Laurel room both fit under 25 people. Prices to rent the room depend if you are a resident or using it for city business, there are also deposits for various equipment that can be rented. Music Recitals in the Oak Room are a $120 flat fee for up to 3 hours and includes use of the Library’s Bosendorfer Grand Piano.
