San Mateo night life has grown over the past decades from very quiet with few restaurants and no bars to several bars (about 18) and a few nightclubs with DJs.
Sky Lounge is a stylish nighclub in the heart of downtown two blocks from the San Mateo train station. There is no cover charge, the main area holds up to 75. THe owners have more than 20 years of experience in the service industry. The bar is equiped to create a variety of cocktails and exotic drinks. Get comfortable in the sports bar atmosphere or enjoy the private VIP lounge. Happy hour is 3 to 6pm every day, closing is 1:30am.

There is also the Century 12 movie theater and close by in Foster City the Hillbarn Theatre.
The Clubhouse Bistro, is managed by Crowne Plaza Hotel in Foster City. It is also great for happy hour meet-ups, private parties, dancing to live DJ’s mixes, or view a big-ticket sports event. Offering cocktails and local and seasonal microbrews, there is a dress code as well as private lounge areas. Open weekdays at 4pm and Weekends at 12pm, closes between midnight to 1:30am.
