Beresford Park & Recreation Center

A very popular park with space for all types of activities. Located along the wealthy neighborhood of the Alameda de las Pulgas, Beresford Park is home to softball league play at Chanteloup Field, a skateboard park, basketball, bocce ball, tennis, and a large playground redone with tan bark chips. Safe for young families, solo joggers, gardening, soccer, and pet walking. Beresford community garden was created decades ago by a mail carrier with a passion for gardening, now the popularity of community gardens has grown, and so has the waiting list.

Street and lot parking available, three public restrooms and three rentable rooms, the largest is the Assembly Room details below.

ABOUT PARK

There is a sheltered picnic area with 10 tables and 3 reservable picnic areas for San Mateo residents with 3-4 tables each and BBQ grills, it costs $60 to $160 to reserve them. There is also a free drop-in only area with 10 picnic tables and BBQ grills. Alcohol may be served in Beresford Park only with a $50 alcohol permit. Inflatable jumpers are permitted with some limitations and a $25 jumper permit. The Recreation Center has many preschool activities and after school care as well as dozens of youth and adult classes.

Recreation Center amenities include:

  • Lighted tennis courts
  • Bocce ball courts
  • Chanteloup Field (weekdays 6-8am provides three-acres off-leash dog area on turf surface)
  • Skate park
  • Community Garden as well as the San Mateo Garden Center
  • Assembly Room can accommodate nearly 300 people theater style or 200 with tables, has a stage, kitchen, enclosed patio, pull-down movie screen and piano.
  • Conference Room can fit up to 41 people and has a small kitchen, large conference table and pull-down movie screen
  • Activities Room can hold 150 people theater style or 106 with tables and has tiny tot-sized tables and chairs and an enclosed children’s playground
  • Art Studio with a 49 person occupancy limit and a club area with a 27 occupancy limit.
