From the San Mateo Event Center to theaters, night clubs and conference rooms San Mateo has a variety public and private venues. Public venues managed by the City of San Mateo include some 20+ rooms inside its community centers and libraries. Serra High School (Junipero Serra) is a Catholic college preparatory for boys has the Carl Gellert Auditorium

San Mateo Event Center is enormous. It has 7 buildings and hosts hundreds of events each year.

On any given day the Senior Center may host a yoga class, history seminar, bingo, billiards or mahjong.

Public skating times, birthday party, ice hockey and figure skating information.

Lighted tennis courts, bocce ball courts, a skate park, garden and picnic areas, a community center with classes and more.

A Farmers Market on Saturday mornings, planetarium shows, a theater and an annual jazz festival. The Bulldogs teams have a stadium to compete in or an olympic pool.

Martin Luther King Community Center is a busy place for local children, featuring classes and events throughout the year.

The Main Library is 3 stories tall, there are two other branch libraries and the College of San Mateo library is also integrated into the county system.

With a view of Lagoon Island Park, amenities include a dog park, ball fields, tennis courts and the seasonal outdoor Joinville Swim Center.

The San Mateo Elks Lodge is a private club that welcomes new members who have full access its spacious facility.
